The Bones

South American forensic anthropologist R.L. is a bone trauma expert who identifies victims of enforced disappearance around the world. After decades of translating forensic data into scientific reports, she posed a profound question: what might emerge if the same data were read through music instead? Taking up that invitation, The Bones listens for what lingers beyond forensic evidence, revealing bones as archives of memory, grief and political violence. Based on interviews with R.L. and featuring a virtuosic performance by Marcela Salinas, the play is a haunting, darkly comic work on disappearance, remembrance, and how acts of listening can become acts of resistance.
