Slap Ass Friday is a one-woman puberty play following Kay, a middle-school girl coming of age in the early 2010s. Beginning with a chaotic school game where boys slap girls’ butts, we see how her sense of self is shaped by over-sexualization, beauty myths, and casual misogyny. Kay’s inner world comes alive through surreal characters, including a puberty book, a Wiki-How guide and brutal humor. Speaking directly to the audience as her diary, Kay reveals the confusion of adolescence.Drawn from real journal entries, the piece blends humor and honesty to examine growing up, resilience, and how young women process experiences they don’t always yet understand.
