No Exit

A heavy metal door closes behind Cradeau. The lock falls into place. Beyond the room—nothing but darkness. Inside, an elegant chandelier, beautiful furniture, a useless fireplace…and no way out. Then comes Ines. Then Estelle. Three strangers, each trying to understand the same impossible question: Why have these three people been brought together—and what are they supposed to do with one another for eternity? Jean-Paul Sartre’s NO EXIT is darkly funny, psychologically unsettling, and startlingly human. As the three search one another for answers, attraction becomes manipulation, conversation becomes confrontation, and the smallest words begin to tighten the room around them. There are no instruments of torture here. None are needed. Slowly, terribly—and sometimes with the most uncomfortable laughter—Cradeau, Ines, and Estelle begin to discover the terrible simplicity of their confinement: the room doesn’t have to torture them. They have each other.
