Lightkeeper tells the story of lighthouse keeper Deán Dreck, who has lived in isolation for the past four years. When an ominous letter and an otherworldly friend show up one day, Déan is confronted by memories and faces from his past that he can no longer shut out with a locked front door. Deán must grapple with the fear- and the hope- of finally leaving the lighthouse and taking his life into his own hands, and confronting all that has been lost over the period of his isolation. This is a story about the pain of being alone, but even more, this is a story about the strength and difficulty of choosing community, even when it’s the harder choice. A 75 minute one act play with music. Content warning: Discussion of child abuse and religious trauma.
