Long Island, 1986. Grace and Dorothy, two recently divorced moms, each with two young kids, inspired by the HIT sitcom “Kate and Allie”, move in together as best friends to solve the many challenges of single motherhood. Throughout the following decades, they build a loving, strong partnership and family. Told through the perspective of their eldest daughter, producer and writer Kate Barry, this is their story. A nostalgic, funny, heartfelt, and cinematic journey of adventures, joys, trials, and triumphs. Asking all along the way if her moms were, in fact, “Just Like Kate and Allie”? Was their union more than just a solution to single motherhood, or was it true love all along? For 26 years, Kate has specialized in bringing other people’s stories to the screen as an Emmy-nominated producer and Writer. Her work includes four Emmy Nominees this year: “Sally” for Nat Geo, “Enigma” for HBO, “Titan” for Netflix, and “Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross” for Roku. Other titles include “Gone Girls” and “Take Care of Maya” for Netflix, “Last Call” and “Rapinoe” for HBO, and “Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sarah” for Hulu. With “Kate, Allie and the ‘86 Mets,” Kate brings her own story to audiences for the first time. The NY performances are directed by Alex Kagy, a New York-based Director and Performer who has Directed Mainstage Revues with Improv Asylum and performs with UCB’s Harold Night and tours nationally with “Friends from Work”, an improv show featuring SNL cast and writers.
