Just Come in and Stay with Me, and No Harm Will Come to You

Apr 30, 2026

This April 30th, Dialogue with Three Chords explores the history of Murder Ballads with “Just Come in and Stay with Me, and No Harm Will Come to You”. In “The Fate of Black Will and Shakebag, Being the Two Hateful Villaines in The Broadside Ballad, The Complaint and Lamentation of Mistresse Arden of Feversham in Kent”, two murders wait in a cell to be hanged and discuss the tragic paths that led to their fate. In “ Most People They Are Apt of Late to Condemn Strange Things as Lies”, Isabel sits alone in a church, hands bloody from murdering a lover, and is joined by the ghost of Ellen Smith, herself a victim of a similar murder. In “How Will the Dead Remember Us?”, two friends steal the body of country music legend Gram Parsons, and try to give him a proper send-off while coming to terms with their roles in his life and death. With music from LaMacchia!
