Fun Home

Based on Alison Bechdel’s award-winning and groundbreaking graphic memoir, Fun Home is a musical about the stories we tell ourselves to better understand our lives. After the sudden death of her father, adult Alison tries to piece together the narrative of her life and wonders where her perspective might have only captured some of the truth. Moving through memories, Alison revisits her unconventional childhood, her joyous discovery of her queerness as a young adult, and moments where she considers what was happening outside her frame of reference. A musical about growing up and outgrowing your parents, it is a story about breaking generational patterns and embracing your whole self. Winner of the Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book, this musical made history for being the first all-women writing team to win these awards.
