What if one day you woke up and the East River had vanished, leaving behind a new plot of land ripe for development? DIRT, created by SOUR MILK (TRAFFIC and FEAST), is an interactive, family-friendly theater piece that invites audiences to reimagine New York City after the sudden disappearance of the East River. Participants take on characters, campaign to become mayor, and decide how to develop a new plot of land that’s emerged from the riverbed. The show’s world is built in real time—on a base of 15 pounds of actual pudding!—using a table of snacks as construction materials in this collaborative act of urban planning and play.
