For the second time in Encores! history—and as a tip of the hat to City Center’s legacy—we’re reviving one of our own revivals. Call Me Madam was the highlight of the second season of Encores! and we are delighted to bring it back to our stage in honor of our 75th Anniversary Season. Tony-nominee Carmen Cusack plays the charmingly unrefined Sally Adams, the “hostess with the mostess,” and ambassador to the fictional country of Lichtenburg. With beloved standards like “It’s a Lovely Day Today” and “Something to Dance About,” The New York Times praised the score as one of Irving Berlin’s most enchanting; “fresh, light, and beguiling.” The book, by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, is brought to life under the direction of Casey Hushion, with choreography by Denis Jones. Music Director Rob Berman will lead the Encores! Orchestra. The cast of Call Me Madam also features Ben Davis, Adam Heller, Carol Kane, Stanley Wayne Mathis, Brad Oscar, Randy Rainbow, Michael Benjamin Washington, and Lauren Worsham.
