ASINAMALI! is a celebration of the resistance movement to apartheid, inspired by a 1983 rent strike in which the strike leader was assassinated. The Earth Players presented the Woza Afrika! Festival at the Newhouse Theater. This four-week festival of original plays written, directed, and performed by artists from South Africa echoed themes of silenced freedom under the oppression of apartheid.
