A MUSICAL FOR HENRIETTA by Lisa Stephen Friday is a romantic comedy about a middle-aged trans woman, Henrietta, and her high school sweetheart, Alan. Estranged for nearly 30 years, they are unexpectedly reunited and discover that the spark between them is still very much alive. With a little divine guidance from Henrietta’s late grandmother and the magical trans superpowers of the MTA’s Bernie Wagenblast, the story traverses through time, moving between small-town Georgia in 1989, where their young love first blossoms, and present-day New York City. The show combines a Post-Punk/New Wave score, an Art Nouveau aesthetic, and a healthy dose of '90s romcom to guide Henrietta on a journey of new love that heals old wounds
